10/17/15
This project has now become a 2 part project. We are currently working on or first part in class. The ofrendas. For part 2 we will write a one page paper explaining what we put in our ofrendas, who we chose for our ofrenda, and why we chose this special person or pet.
Below I have created a checklist for 8th grade to double check and make sure they have what they need to complete their project in class this week.
Now for 8th Grade Part 1 Ofrenda CHECK LIST
1.a box of some sort ( that you should have in class already) 2. tissue paper 3. a picture of past loved one or pet or if you have neither of these a Spanish famous person (check in with me first to make sure the person is not taken already) 4. at least one picture of a saint
This Group is worth 2 points each
Now for the next grouping you may use printed pictures, cut outs from magazines, drawings or clay models. They need to be neat and need to be able to stand on their own or glued down. EFFORT is a big part of your grade. what you put in is what you get out!
5 . Papel picado - hand cut tissue paper 6. incense 7. candles 8. flowers - these may be made out of tissue paper and count as tissue paper point. 9. bread - this would represent the sweet bread of the dead 10. water - the quench the thirst of the dead from the long journey and to purify the altars 11. rosary / crucifix - for blessings 12. something that the person / pet liked 13. sugar skulls/skeletons
This Group is worth 1 point each
The last part is an index card with Heading
worth 1 point each.
=Total 25 points
